How long does standard shipping from Amazon usually take?

AMAZON
Nicole S asked:

I ordered a comic book from Amazon.com late Sunday night. I chose Standard Shipping.

It SAYS it will take two to three days, but I ordered something before — it said it would take a week and arrived in three days. I live in California, by the way.

When will be the most likely time it will arrive? Will a UPS truck bring it? And will it come in a package or an envelope? Thanks in advance.

Don’t panic. Standard shipping may refer to US mail, UPS, or Federal Express. Many companies send you a confirmation that the order has shipped and they tell you how. If it is UPS or FEDEX, you generally – but not all the time – get a tracking number email.

For postal mail you get nothing unless the seller emails you and tells you it is shipped. I recently ordered cell phone batteries from eBay and I was about to call the seller, but they came. They said postal mail but they came Fedex and it was several days later than they said. I’m not upset. I got my stuff but it was little screwed up. But, they had a good price and the merch was quality, so, leave it go.

From my experience with shipping companies from websites like Amazon, Newegg, eBay, eBid, etc., standard shipping is usually defined as ground shipping for UPS, priority shipping for USPS, and standard for Fedex…

Usually, if your package is shipped as Ground for UPS, it takes 4 to 6 business days. If it’s USPS priority, it should only take 2 to 3 days. Fedex is usually about the same as USPS.

On rare occasions, you can get your package delivered earlier than scheduled. I had it happen twice with UPS, and none with any other carrier. It was very courteous of them to do so.

If Amazon lists your shipping time as two the three, it should arrive within that time, given that the package has been shipped from the shipping location, and that there are no transit delays. Given it’s close to a holiday (Thanksgiving), and that you ordered the package on Sunday night, you may want to add an extra day on that total transit time. So I would assume 3 to 4 days, unless the package was shipped from a location near CA.

In the future, I would totally recommend you order your packages be shipped with USPS as the carrier, with priority mail. For the price, the handling and transit time services are amazing!
