How to use two computers on one monitor?

I I want to build up a new system just for doing one task alone and it makes no sense I buy another monitor when I already have one.
I want to know how do I use one monitor but have totall controll of two computers?
I mainly want to use the other PC to convert DVD to mp4′s.
I do not want to use a KVM switch.
I want to network both computers.
can anyone please help me.

My computer can ping the other two computers, but those computers cannot ping my computer. Why?

I have three computers all connected to a router. One of my computers can ping the other two, but those two cannot ping it back. What can I do to restore connectivity in both directions?

How can I share folders between two computers that aren’t on connected via a router?

Is it possible for me to share folders with a friend that lives on the other side of town? I know how to do it between computers within a network, but since we aren’t connected directly, is there any way to enable folder sharing?
