Is the Playstation 3 worth the buy?

I’m a gamer, I’m 15, and I am an Xbox 360 owner. But my 360 crashed on me with the three rings, and I cant get a new one because it expired last year. I’ve lived all summer without much video games, and I need it back in my life. Should I get the PS3 this christmas/my birthday (which is in november). I love most genre’s of video games, hence why I bought the 360. I love Gears, I love CoD, and I love UFC although I didn’t own the later. I know four games I’d buy foresure if I were to get the PS3:
1) God of War 3(my favorite playstation series)
2) UFC Undisputed (played it on PS3 & I loved it)
3) InFamous
4) Assassins Creed 2
Now the thing is, I don’t know to many shooters, and the only games that REALLY appeal to me are action games which I don’t have a problem with, its just that I’d love a little more variety. Now should I buy the $300 PS3? If so, support your answer with other games I should get. Please help.

What is the best game in your opinion that has come out in the last 5 years, for either PS2, PS3, XBOX, XBOX 360, or Wii.
I would have to say my favorite is Resident Evil 4 for PS2
